An immersion and community for women in transition

Your next chapter is still unwritten.

Some transitions we choose. Others choose us.

Life does not always go according to plan. Unwritten by Design brings women together at life's transitions to reflect on where they are, imagine what comes next, and build the Sphere that can help them move toward it.

Close-up of the word unwritten tattooed in fine-line script on a woman's inner forearm, in soft editorial light.

Do you see yourself here?

Life is full of transitions. How we move through them matters. And so does who surrounds us along the way.

  • College to a first job
  • Marriage to divorce
  • Becoming a mother
  • Menopause
  • Promotion to CEO
  • Getting fired
  • An empty nest
  • Losing someone we love
  • Retirement
  • Success, and then what now?

You may be in transition if...

You know something is changing, even if you cannot quite name what comes next.

Maybe you chose the transition. Maybe it chose you.

Maybe everyone around you thinks things are going incredibly well, while privately you are wondering, is this still what I want?

Maybe you know exactly what you want next and need the courage, plan, or people around you to move toward it. Or maybe you have no idea.

You do not need to have the answer to belong here.

This is not another retreat

There are extraordinary places for women to rest, restore, network, and develop as leaders. Unwritten exists for something different.

Immersion, not escape.

This is not about getting away from your life. It is about creating the space to look honestly at where you are, explore what is possible, and decide how you want to move into what comes next.

Whole life, not just career.

We do not separate the personal from the professional because life does not work that way. Careers change. Relationships change. Bodies change. Families change. Ambitions change. Identities change. Unwritten makes room for all of it.

Science plus lived experience.

The experience is informed by the science of behavior change, reflection, goal setting, human connection, and social support. But some of the greatest wisdom will come from the women sitting beside you. There are no gurus here telling you what your life should look like.

Your Sphere, not simply your network.

Networking asks: who do I know? Your Sphere asks: who do I need around me for the life I am building? And just as importantly, whose Sphere can you be part of?

The Unwritten Method

Reflect. Reframe. Imagine. Build. Connect.

Meaningful change rarely happens because we had one great insight. It happens when reflection becomes intention, intention becomes action, and we have the right support around us to keep going.

I

Reflect

Where am I now?

Create the space to honestly understand the transition you are navigating, what is changing, and what matters to you now.

II

Reframe

What might I need to see differently?

Challenge the assumptions, expectations, old definitions of success, and stories that may no longer serve you.

III

Imagine

What could come next?

Expand the possibilities before narrowing them. Give yourself permission to imagine something different before deciding what is practical.

IV

Build

How will I begin?

Turn insight into action with specific choices, experiments, conversations, commitments, and first steps.

V

Connect

Who do I need around me?

Build the Sphere of relationships, perspectives, support, and accountability that can help you keep moving.

Grounded in what helps change last

Reflection creates awareness.

Understanding where we are and the assumptions shaping us.

Agency creates movement.

Turning insight into choices and personally meaningful goals.

Action creates change.

Converting intention into specific commitments and behaviors.

Connection helps sustain it.

Building the relationships, accountability, and support that help us keep moving when life intervenes.

The Unwritten model draws on established research in behavior change, goal setting, social connection, social support, and sustained behavior.

What will you leave with?

You should leave different than you arrived.

Not because someone gave you the answer, but because you had the space, structure, tools, science, and women around you to begin discovering it for yourself.

Greater clarity.

A deeper understanding of where you are, what is changing, and what matters now.

A picture of what you want next.

Not necessarily a perfectly defined destination, but a clearer sense of what you want more of, what you want less of, and what possibilities you want to explore.

A personal transition plan.

The decisions, conversations, experiments, boundaries, and first moves that can help you move forward.

Specific commitments.

Not simply what you intend to do, but what you will do first and when you will do it.

An understanding of what could get in your way.

The assumptions, fears, habits, expectations, or patterns that could pull you back toward what is familiar.

Your Sphere.

Women who can challenge, guide, encourage, connect, and support you as you move forward.

A way to stay in motion.

Because the immersion ends. Your transition does not.

The Sphere

Different generations. Different transitions. One Sphere.

We intentionally bring together women of different ages, backgrounds, experiences, and life stages, because we do not believe wisdom only moves from older to younger, senior to junior, or expert to beginner.

A woman of 28 may have something a woman of 62 needs to hear. A woman navigating her first leadership role may sit beside a CEO wondering what comes after success. Someone beginning a family may connect with someone rediscovering herself after her children have left home.

One woman may be navigating something another has already survived. And the woman who comes looking for support may discover that she holds exactly the wisdom someone else needs.

You do not graduate from needing other women.

From the founder

Cara McNulty, founder of Unwritten by Design

I have lived through transitions I chose and transitions I never would have chosen. I did not navigate them alone. The women around me were my Sphere.

For more than three decades, my work has asked what actually helps people change. Unwritten brings that science together with what I have learned from the women who surrounded me.

The Founding Immersion

We are beginning with one room.

Approximately 20 to 25 women. Different generations. Different experiences. Different transitions.

Some will know exactly what they are moving toward. Some will know only that something needs to change.

Together, we will Reflect, Reframe, Imagine, Build, and Connect. And when the immersion ends, the relationships do not. This is the beginning of the Unwritten Sphere.

Your story isn't finished.

You do not need to know exactly what comes next. You only need to be willing to explore it.

Be among the first to receive details and an invitation to the inaugural Unwritten by Design immersion.

One tap, no application. Or tell us more

No application. No commitment. Just a first step.

Some transitions we choose. Others choose us. None of us has to navigate them alone.
